If you have never knitted socks before, you should try a pattern from Very Pink Knits.  Staci @ Very Pink Knits has a wide selection of sock patterns, including: DPN, Magic Loop, Cuff Down, Toe-Up and Two at a Time Socks.  She also includes videos with all of her patterns.

Materials needed for project:

Pattern from VPK, knitting needles (Size 5 circular at least 32″ for magic loop), worsted weight yarn, clips, scissors, stitch counter and threading needle to weave in ends.

Start of my cuff.

Finishing up cuff.

Worked past the gusset(heel) and onto the foot.

Just a little ways left on the foot.  I am making a size small sock here.

Finished with the foot and just need to close off the toe.

Using the Kitchener stitch to close up the toe of the sock.

Sock all finished up.  Now I just need to finish up  sock number 2.
