I finished up a mermaid tail blanket for my great niece Olivia. She looks so adorable as a mermaid. Her mom told me that she really loves these types of blankets so I got started on one right away. Olivia loves pink and I was able to find some really great yarn for this project.
I picked up this Homespun yarn at Michael’s using many, many coupons. The pattern called for 6 skeins of yarn and I double stranded the whole blanket. I used the “MJ’s Off the Hook Designs Pattern” to make this super soft mermaid blanket. If interested, you can purchase the pattern yourself HERE.
This top section is the blanket part above the cocoon. I love this yarn but it was very difficult to see the holes to work through. I think I only survived because I wanted to make a very special little girl happy. I am glad she loved it and I hope she gets lots of use out of it.
At this point you can see where I have attached the sides of the blanket and started the cocoon.
This is the finished front side of the blanket.
The finished back side of the blanket.
Here is a photo of my daughter modeling the blanket for size. Checking to make sure everything is secure and that I don’t have any holes anywhere. I have a feeling she may want one of these for herself…LOL
